What does a porta potty service include?
A porta potty service visit includes six steps: pump the waste tank, add fresh deodorizer, scrub the seat, urinal, floor and walls, restock toilet paper and hand sanitizer, refill any sink, and log the visit. The visit takes about 10 minutes per unit.
- Pump-out: the vacuum hose empties the 60-gallon tank.
- Recharge: fresh water and blue deodorizer go into the tank.
- Scrub: seat, lid, urinal, floor and walls are cleaned and wiped.
- Restock: two fresh rolls of paper and a full sanitizer dispenser.
- Sinks: handwashing stations and flushing units are refilled with fresh water, soap and towels.
- Log: a dated service record is left on the unit and kept on file.
How often should a porta potty be serviced?
A porta potty should be serviced once a week for up to 10 regular users. Book two visits a week for 11 to 20 users, for summer heat above 90°F, or when the unit also serves visitors. Event units arrive sanitized and need no service during a one-day event.
What should I do between visits?
Between visits, keep the door closed, keep trash out of the tank and call if the unit is damaged, tipped or full early. Trash such as bottles and gloves makes pump-outs slower and may add a cleanup charge.
